ChatGPT is an AI designed by OpenAI that creates dialogue. It also answers your questions in the simplest way possible. ChatGPT is also the most advanced language processing AI's to date. In addition, it gives very well written responses in a matter of seconds. For example you could ask it to "write an essay." Then if its too dull, you can say "make it more exciting" and it'll create your perfect essay.
It is completely accurate when you ask common knowledge questions, but when you get into specialized questions it might give false or misleading information. This could be because it cannot cite its source. Without citing your source, it cannot be trusted and may be biased or incorrect. OpenAI is constantly trying to make ChatGPT better, but still run into imprecise answers. Overall, ChatGPT has great potential, but still needs to expand its knowledge of human speech to provide us with better answers.
ChatGPT has over 100 million users with about 1.8 billion visits in April and May of 2023. It also got 1 million users within the first 5 days which is amazing considering that Instagram took about 2.5 months to reach 1 million downloads and Netflix took 3.5 years to reach 1 million users. ChatGPT users are spending about 7 minutes and 27 seconds on the site per visit according to Exploding Topics. Also, according to pewresearch.org, "18% of US adulte have heart a lot about ChatGPT, while 39% have herad a little and 42% have heard nothing at all." Additionally, Asian adults are more prone to knowing about ChatGPT becasue 78% of them have at least heard a little bit about ChatGPT. Also, people with a highschool diploma or less, were most likely to not hear about ChatGPT. This limitation in accessability or knowledge for this new program can bring up usage problems in the future.
You can use ChatGPT to generate concepts around keywords, making great titles and headlines. In addition, you can get ideas about what to write from AI, but you should never directly use AI generated text. You also need to fact check everything, because it may give false information or misleading information. ChatGPT can be used as a proof reading and editing tool to make sure there are minimal errors in writing and code even when there are bugs. These creative ways to use ChatGPT are not considered cheating, but can immensely help you if you think outside of the box.
The dialogue AI created by OpenAI has sparked many controversy's along the way. For example, in schools you can't allow students to use ChatGPT, otherwise they are cheating. This is a problem as more and more kids use it in an attempt to get good grades. However, teachers are finding similarities between the AI written texts. This discovery of the repeated algorithem can help prevent school students cheating and office workers from cutting their work short.Even though many people are using ChatGPT, it's still not perfect and is giving out twisted, or false information. But in context, ChatGPT gives out false, or unclear information when your question is unclear. Another controversy about ChatGPT is that it might take over some jobs because of its similarities to human thought and speech. For example, it can take over tech jobs, advertizement jobs, legal jobs, and pretty much anything else humans can do. AI is taking over the world and ChatGPT was a big step in that direction.
